A letter to Changing Lanes Alumni

12/30/25

Gentleman,

As we come to an end of the year, I wanted to encourage and challenge each of you.

You know better than anyone the courage it takes to walk into Changing Lanes. Many of you walked in carrying much more baggage than just a quiet addiction: failing marriages, childhood trauma, and deep, unseen wounds that needed to be healed.

Through God’s grace however, you found freedom. By being honest, transparent, and vulnerable, opening yourself up to God’s will for your life, and laying down your own desires, God was able to make real and lasting change in your life.

That freedom did not happen in isolation, but because the men before you chose to give back, either by volunteering as group leaders, giving financially, or both.

Since 2010 Changing Lanes has grown from a three-person group that met in a small church classroom to a ministry with its own dedicated space that can now host 2 simultaneous groups that allow for the safety that each group needs.

With that growth comes a greater responsibility and a greater need for support.

That said, here is both the encouragement and the challenge:

Currently, graduates provide 80% of our monthly giving. It brings me great joy to know that so much of our monthly support comes from men who have seen God's radical transformation in their lives. However, only 20% of all Changing Lanes graduates currently support the ministry financially.

For nearly a decade, that number has stayed consistent, even as the need (facilities and operating costs) have increased. Our new facility alone requires over $4,000 in additional monthly support to continue welcoming men who are searching for the same freedom you once sought.

At our current giving rate, OUR CURRENT RESOURCES WILL BE COMPLETELY DEPLETED BY MARCH 2026. That reality weighs heavily on us. The need of redemption from sexual sin has only grown in the last 10 years for men, women, and families, and we want to remain steadfast in receiving them.

When you as alumni give, whether it’s $25, $50, $100 or more, you are directly helping another man take his first step toward freedom. Your generosity is the reason the door stays open, the lights stay on, and a chair stays available for the next man looking for the freedom you’ve found.

Please, hear my heart: this is not about what we want from you or obligating you to give. I am simply asking you to consider how you can help your brothers in Christ suffering from the same wounds that you’ve carried find healing in Jesus.

Would you prayerfully consider joining the 20% and help us continue help men find lasting freedom through a monthly gift?

For those of you who already support the ministry financially, will you prayerfully consider increasing your monthly giving?

Thank you for being part of the Changing Lanes family, and for considering how God might use your generosity to change lives.

With gratitude,

Brett Hendrix
